EMBARK FOREST SCHOOL CLASSROOM

2nd BEST PROJECT AWARD, PEMADE  BEST PROJECTS AWARDS 2017 UNIVERSITY SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA

The idea of Embark Forest School Classroom was born in 2016 to provide an indoor space for Embark Forest School

For about three years the Tangleha Artist Collective cooperative (northeast of Scotland) has carried out, among its many activities, the organization of a forest school, thus promoting a different, alternative or supplementary education, for children of all ages and conditions, such as for adults with learning difficulties or some type of disability.

For the design of the classroom-workshop building, from the beginning, it has as its main premise, the use of natural or recycled materials, as far as possible. The structure and morphology are also clear from the beginning, which will be a round shape building with a reciprocal structure as a roof. It is also wanted to use as structural wood, small diameter round wood from clearings of the same forest and nearby, local forests, and extol the use of a material that will undergo a minimum mechanization process for its use, making it more sustainable use of wood. Another of the premises is that it has to be a very efficient building, especially thermally and that provides comfort in the event of inclement weather.

The entire project has been designed using CadWork v.23 and its structure calculated with Autodesk ROBOT Structural Analysis
